Warby Parker sneak peek!

Cream?

I go into Starbucks Friday morning for my very first pumpkin spice latte of the season. It was my end-of-the-week treat.

After I ordered, the barista asks me, "Cream?"

"What?"

"Cream?"

"Um, no. No cream." Confused, I prod further: "People actually put cream... in their lattes?"

"Well," she starts, not a smile grazing her face, "It's a seasonal beverage, so we add whipped cream."

"Oh!" I say, realizing she means whipped cream not creamer. "I thought you meant like creamer."

"Um. No."

Apparently, she wasn't amused by my little misunderstanding.

But, to be fair, everyone else at Starbucks calls it whipped cream.. Not just cream. It's a little thing, I know. Even the guy who made me my drink said "no whip."

And that's the end of my pumpkin spice latte story.

Is anyone else excited to try the salted caramel mocha? That'll be my next end-of-the-week treat, I think.

Sick day

Stayed home all day today recovering from some grossness that sneaked (snuk?) into my system yesterday.

A sick day at home meant...

Finally starting--and nearly finishing--season one of Game of Thrones.

Ginger Ale brought to me by my sweet husband. It always made me feel better when I was little.

Cookie dough Ben & Jerry's, also brought to me by sweet hubs. Obviously, ice cream heals all.

A bubble bath. Just 'cause.

I'm feeling better, and will probably be all healed up just in time to go to work tomorrow morning. Ha! Isn't that always the way?

Layer FAIL

Well, I tried.

I tried a style out of InStyle magazine.

InStyle has a great feature on layering different types of apparel pieces together.

And so I tried this one:

But it didn't really turn out the way I wanted:

I still liked the outfit, but I think I'll try something else layering-wise.

White after Labor Day

My September issue of InStyle magazine says it's a fashion rule that can be broken. So when I pulled the white jeans out of my closet, I didn't think twice.

I know that's riveting stuff.

Also riveting is the new pair of booties I bought from Old Navy. I'm wearing them in the photos, you just can't see them very well because they're competing with the glaring, bright white jeans. Thems the breaks. But I am looking forward to pairing the boots with dresses and tights this Fall. Add one more pair of shoes with heels higher than 1/2" to my wardrobe. It's exciting stuff, I tell ya.

I think I might've found my style inspiration for the Fall: Alexa Chung for Madewell. Have you seen the lookbook shots? She just has really cool, classic, effortless style. I'm not saying I'm going to run out and buy the whole line; I know I can't afford some of the pieces. But I am really digging some of the blouses and dresses. And, if nothing else, I can take the overall look as my Fall inspiration.

Another thing I'm drooling over for Fall: These Juicy Couture convertible boots. Two boots in one? How cool! But I don't think I'll be spending nearly $400 on a pair of boots any time. Maybe I can pull some of my husband's eBay magic and find them cheaper.

full weekend

Hi. It's been a while. Sorry 'bout that. Last week was a bit busy and this weekend's been busy, too.

Friday we had dinner with some of the hubs' relatives he'd never met before, which was really, and then hung out with some of his cousins.

Saturday was date morning and laundry day.

Yesterday we had an excursion with some friends to Yosemite (pics to come soon). We left the city at 5:30am and explored some of the sites of the park. But pretty soon it got crowded, and we weren't planning on staying the night, so we didn't stay too late. It was beautiful, but I hope I get to go back sometime when it's not as crowded.

Today I had my long run in the morning and then we went to a Labor Day cookout.

All in all, a great weekend. And it's a short week! Love that.
