The most fun weekend ever

IMG_1605

Can I just say I've been off the blog because I've been having to much fun? Yes? Great!

The weekend I took these photos (Memorial Day weekend) was so great.

First, I was wearing my new denim shirt (thanks, Banana Republic!) and my favorite red denim leggings. Then, we brunched it up at Nopa for the first time. We sat at the bar and I had strawberry custard French toast that was incredible.

Then, on Sunday, we took a scooter ride with lots of other scooter fanatics. Seeing the city among a crowd of rumbling Buddy scooters was just awesome. We drove up Twin Peaks and enjoyed the view, then headed back down to McLaren Park, where we had a picnic lunch, sack races and an egg toss (seriously).

Amazing view of the city.

Finally, Sunday night, we headed out with some friends to a party for the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. They closed off the bridge that night to put on the most astounding fireworks show I've ever seen. Seriously. Amazing. I love this city.

Yeah, that's a lot of fireworks

Happy Leap Day! (There are strangers in my photos.)

2.19 collage

Apologies for the delays in posting, folks. I've been slacking on the outfit photos and spending lots of (much needed) time with friends. That's a good excuse, right? For instance, these photos were taken a couple of weekends ago when I was with some girlfriends for a trip downtown and to the movies to see "The Vow." Sometimes I like girly movies. And Channing Tatum. Hottie McWow.

I'm about to ask a question that might get me kicked out of the hipster club. (Just kidding, I was never in it. But it might make you question my coolness.)

Is anyone as excited as I am about going to see "Titanic" in 3D? No? I didn't think so. But I'm confident I can find at least one friend to join me in a viewing. I loved that movie when it was in theaters and saw it multiple times.

So I'm currently accepting applications for friends who want to see the movie with me. I'm not kidding folks. I want to see Leo's "Jack" on the big screen one more time.

Things I forget

How it really hurts to start playing the guitar again. But when the callouses form, it feels really awesome.

That writing in a journal really is therapeutic.

I'm not too old to buy concert T-shirts. (I'm not, right???)

I'm an adult, so going on a business trip is normal.

Flamenco music is pretty amazing...

...and that Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros are still the best music to get work done to.

Sangin'

Did anyone else just remember tonight that tomorrow's the start of the 30 for 30 challenge?

No?

I'm the only slacker in this bunch?

Ah, well. The important thing is that I remembered, right? I frantically picked my 30 just an hour ago, so this should be interesting. A few lessons I learned from last time:

- Don't be too trendy with choices.
- Pick a variety of neutrals and fun colors, but definitely stuff that will mix and match well.
- Pick lots of bottoms.

I think in the end I ended up with 29 pieces (I'll tell why later), and I'm pretty happy with my picks.

Yesterday was the start of our choir rehearsal for this. JV was there to accompany us in our singing and the fabulous Minna Choi led us with her amazing conductor skills.

It's going to be lots of fun.

So my weekend was full of singing: Friday night we had a brief karaoke outing (just a stop at Bow Bow before calling it a night after the Etsy Craft Party), Saturday was rehearsal for three hours and then karaoke birthday party that night, and this morning I sang at church.

Tomorrow night we rehearse some more.

It's really pretty great, although my vocal chords aren't used to this kind of strain any more. So it's early to bed for me so I can be ready for vocal greatness tomorrow.

When I'm 64...

...or 53.

A friend of mine just shared this link with me. Have you heard of Inès de la Fressange? I hadn't before just a few moments ago. She's 53. Yes, 53. And she's still stellar model and runway walker.

She's quite the lady to admire.

I especially love some of the fashion advice at the end of the article. Check it out:

"Wear two scarves, one on top of the other. This works equally well with two T-shirts, two blazers, two belts."

"Team your old worn-out denim jacket with a silk blouse."

12 of 30: Recovery

Last night was a late one. Involving lots of karaoke and good food and friends and laughing. Which means today I was slow to wake up. Which means outfit number twelve is a simple one. But at least I'm still on track!

In that last photo I'm showing you how awesome my ninja kicks are. They're super awesome.
