18 of 30: And Then There Was a Poncho

Gap tunic, old tights, Restricted boots, Da-Nang poncho, gifted scarf

I.... don't know guys. This poncho. It's. Just. Not me. I mean, is it? Maybe it's like these boots (which I love now, by the way), and I have to wear it a few times and figure out how it works in order for me to love it.

Y'all, getting a good picture outside today was pretty much impossible. When it wasn't raining, it was just gross. I tried.

In spite of the gloomy weather, I'm in a great mood. My girlfriends and I planned a quick, cheap overnight trip to Napa Sunday after church because we have Monday off. Oh. YAY. As much as I love this city, I also love getting out every once and a while.

We might be staying at a bit of a crappy hotel, but it's cheap and in Napa and we can do other classy things like visit wineries on the cheap. I'm coming up with a budget for the trip and the rule is that we can only bring x dollars to spend the whole time (aside from the room and gas). I like challenges.

As for the rest of this weekend? I'm going to do whatever the frack* I want to do. (Probably clean, cook, organize a few things in my life...)

* If you get this reference, we should be friends.

16 of 30: More Than Halfway

Target tunic, Old Navy cardigan and scarf, Prana leggings, Restricted via Piperlime boots

Tired and uncreative. That's how I'm feeling tonight. So I can't promise anything special in the following words.

I can say that I like this outfit. I'm actually wearing two pairs of leggings. And they're doing the trick: keepin' me legs warm.

This morning I took the scooter to work, praying the rain wouldn't start on my way. I stopped to grab some coffee at Starbucks (in my awesome Klean Kanteen thermos). As I'm walking outside to my scooter, a hailstorm started. Yeah. Hard little pieces of whatever started falling from the sky. Thankfully it only lasted a few moments before it turned into rain and then precipitation stopped all together.

I'm sorry that story wasn't more interesting. Tired and uncreative, remember?

7 of 30: Nothing Interesting Happened Today

Top: Gap    Cardigan:Gap*    Cords: Gap    Boots: Restricted via Piperlime    Scarf: thrifted via Buffalo Exchange

Ok, that's not exactly true. But it's pretty darn close to the truth.

I mean, I woke up, went for a quick run (it was glorious, thanks for asking), got ready, scooted to work, worked, scooted to class, had class, scooted home, snuggled the hubs (ewwww!), made allergen-free stir fry.

And now I'm sitting here with my cherries for dessert aaaaaaand that about does it!

Oh, and I'm currently watching "The Bachelor." It's my vice. I hope that doesn't ruin some intellectual delusion you had about me. JK. I'm intellectual. I just also happen to take pleasure in watching a group of vapid ladies vying for a good-looking fella.

You know what's weird? When the ladies all arrive in Costa Rica and basically line up to hug Brad hello. Weird.

One quick story and then I'm out. You see this scarf? I scored it for $5 at Buffalo Exchange. I was shopping with my pal, lil C, who just happens to be a 6 year old. She was really feeling this scarf because she said she wants to be a cowgirl when she grows up. I told her she should dress as a cowgirl next Halloween. After looking longingly at the scarf I had purchased, she sweetly asked me if she could wear it when she's a cowgirl for Halloween. I think it would look perfect on her.

All right, that's enough of that. I'ma eat some more cherries.

* This cardigan was not in my original 30 for 30, but it's subbing for my brown cardigan, which still needs to be washed after the slushie incident.

1 of 30: The Beginning

It's day one of 30. And this is what I started with. Comfortable and easy.

Sweater: Gap    Dress (worn as skirt): Old Navy    Leggings: Prana    Boots: Restricted via Piperlime    Belt: F21    Jacket: Old Navy

Simultaneously with this 30 for 30 challenge, I've also started a diet. Not a weight-loss diet. It's called the elimination diet. (Read about it here.) Basically I'm eliminating eight of the most common food sensitivities and allergens for a few weeks.

It's hard. It's only day one, y'all, but it's still hard.

The part that surprisingly wasn't hard? Not drinking coffee today. Go figure.

My Color Aesthetic

Apparently I really like this color palette, as evidenced by this post.

Guess I should file that away in the things-I've-noticed-about-my-style folder.

I love love love this tunic. It was kind of an impulse buy at the Gap, but has become one of my favorite pieces this fall/winter. On this day I wanted to wear it over some colorful leggings, but the only leggings I own are black, heather grey and olive green.

But I do own these great purple tights. Layer them over some leggings and voila! Colorful, warm legwear.

So I've stopped with the rounded edges on my pictures. Mainly because it just takes an extra step before posting, and I think the most important thing is that I edit the photos for color and exposure. At least that's what my limited editing skillz tell me.

Can I just be excited for a moment? I was chosen as one of FabSugar's "Looks of the Week." Very cool! And all over an outfit I was a little unsure about. Thanks, FabSugar!

Tunic: Gap    Cami (beneath tunic): Target    Leggings (beneath tights): Target    Tights: too old to remember    Boots: Restricted via Piperlime    Necklace: via Erskine College

P.S. I'll be choosing my 30 for 30 pieces today. I'm nervous. And excited. And pretty certain of at least half of the pieces.

Fashion Risk #4: Winterized Shorts

Combat boots: day two.

I'm getting used to them. I still look down and see big feet, but I also feel kind of cool wearing them. Like I could stomp out a fire.

I threw on these shorts this morning to see how I'd feel about the shorts/leggings/boots combo. I think the cowl neck sweater makes this outfit.
