Go, Team Olympics!

Are you as excited as I am about the Olympics starting tonight? Not only am I sporting some Olympic/Team U.S.A. nails, but I also bought a copule of the Gap special edition vintage Olympic tees.

I don't know what it is about this year. Maybe it's that I was mesmerized by the gymnasts when I was a little girl. Maybe it's that the last Olympics occurred less than a month into my marriage and move to San Francisco (Hey, look! I was blogging back then!), and I remember streaming online archery competitions with my new husband. Maybe it's just the Olympic spirit.

Whatever it is, this is how excited I am:

Old Navy tank & scarf, gifted jeans, Gap shoes (soooo comfortable!), gifted earrings

Sometimes my favoritest outfits are those that take zero effort to put together. Like this one. Of course, this scarf has made several appearances on the blog, these shoes are my new favs and these jeans are made 100 times cooler because that hole was created during my first (and only) scooter accident. Plus, these awesome new earrings were gifted to me (TODAY) by my awesome friend who just returned from an Asian adventure. I wore this to Chili Pies, which I highly recommend to you SF folks. Get the hard cherry cider float with vanilla ice cream. Amazing.

Life's been crazy this week. We launched our new app at work and hit #9 on the top free apps list within a couple of days. It's kept me busy social media-ing it up to share the app with anyone and everyone. (HAVE YOU DOWNLOADED IT YET???) I published an article on Forbes and Huffington Post. My HuffPo piece was made a featured blog post on the Huffington Post Money section. Busy, awesome week.

P.S. Those first two photos were snapped using my new lens. Loving that new little piece of technology.

THE COLOR RUN

And the tagline was right. It is "the happiest 5k."

Enjoy the photos!

Jenna Lyons' Doppleganger

IMG_1962

IMG_1969

I walked into J.Crew the other day to check out the sale (extra 30% off!) and an associate told me I look like Jenna Lyons. You know, J.Crew's creative director.

I don't know if I see the resemblance (it might just be that I looked like I had been outfitted in all J.Crew apparel), but I'll take it!

Also, I think these shorts were made for Dotty.

Oh, and in case you don't know what Jenna looks like, here ya go:

Last Night's Dinner: Meatball and Veggie Soup & Black Bean Brownies

IMG_1914

I've been bitten by the domestic bug this week and I'm cooking up a storm. First, it was this meatball soup. For you vegheads you could easliy skip the meatballs and add some beans to this home-warming recipe from Real Simple.

I used ground beef instead of ground pork, by the way. Just wish I had some cheese to sprinkle on top.

Next I wanted dessert, so I tried this black bean brownie recipe. It was ok, but I really want to try my friend Christi's delicious black bean fudge recipe.

Things that instantly make any outfit awesome

IMG_3925

Red pants. If you've been checking out my outfits for a while, you know I love my red pants. You know those days when what you're wearing really makes you feel good? That's how I feel whenever I put on these red pants. Can't you tell?

IMG_4089

Colorful scarf. For as many times as I've worn my red pants on this blog, I've worn a scarf at least three times as much. I was even dubbed "scarf enthusiast" in my company's four-year anniversary video. You can never have too many scarves, especially not as a San Francisco resident.

IMG_4665

Statement necklace. As far as statement necklaces go, this one is a bit subtle. But I still think it completes what would otherwise be a fairly generic outfit.

IMG_4630

Utilitarian vest. This vest has places to put bullets, so it's definitely hardcore. But it's also from Old Navy, so it's definitely not meant to really carry bullets. This vest is the perfect layer to an incomplete outfit.

IMAG0777

Bright belt. I don't wear belts that often, so when I do, I like to make sure everyone knows it. This bright pink belt might seem out of place, but I think it's just an alternative to the statement necklace. It goes with nothing else in the outfit, and that's what I love about it.

What do you wear to make your outfits stand out? Faux fur? Arm parties? A strap-on hunchback?
